NR 16-40 Sheriff’s Office Investigating Accidental Drowning

16-40On May 29, 2016, at approximately 4:30 P.M., the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to Spessard Holland Park, 2525 S. Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach, in reference to an accidental drowning.

The initial investigation has determined 20-year-old Ezekial Brown, of Winter Springs, and his girlfriend, were swimming in the ocean for approximately 20 minutes when they decided to go farther from shore. As they continued swimming, it appeared they were being pulled further out into the ocean. Brown’s girlfriend was able to make it to shore with the assistance of a friend, and Brown disappeared under the water. Brown was located deceased approximately two hours later by Ocean Rescue personnel near the area where he was last seen going under the water.

The incident is under investigation and appears to be accidental in nature.
