NR 14-44 Organized Theft Ring Leads To Search Of Local Business
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Task Force served a search warrant earlier today at the Ice Cream Depot, located at 1220 South Wickham Road, West Melbourne. The investigation is in reference to an alleged organized theft ring.
The investigation has been ongoing for several months with evidence leading investigators to believe that thieves would target health and dental hygiene products, where the stolen merchandise would be delivered to the business and then sold on internet auction sites such as eBay. The investigation has determined that over $100,000 dollars in stolen merchandise has been brought to, and sold through the business.
There were no arrests today; however, evidence was confiscated in the search to include computers and suspected stolen merchandise. The investigation is continuing with charges anticipated after the evidence is reviewed with the State Attorney’s Office.
