Upon searching the residence, deputies were unable to locate any intruders. They did locate Brevick’s wife, 56-year-old Francia Vargas-Brevick, on the bedroom floor, unresponsive. The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
On August 10, 2014, the victim died as a result of her injuries. The autopsy was performed today by the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office, who ruled the manner of death as homicide.
