NR 15-04 Sheriff’s Office Agents Arrest One In West Melbourne Auto Thefts

15-4Earlier today, the Brevard County Sheriff’s positively identified and arrested 16-year-old DeAngelo Wellmaker, of Melbourne, as one of the suspects responsible in a business burglary and grand theft of six automobiles that occurred over the weekend at The Car Guys Automotive Sales, Melbourne.

On January 11, 2015, deputies responded to 3665 W. New Haven Avenue, The Car Guys Automotive Sales, in reference to a business burglary that had resulted in damage to the business and the theft of six vehicles. Approximately seven to ten suspects were observed on video surveillance entering the business by smashing the front window with a cement block. The suspects were then seen rummaging through the business stealing keys to vehicles. All of the stolen vehicles have been recovered. The West Melbourne Police Department reported similar business and a vehicle theft where that stolen vehicle has since been recovered as well.

Wellmaker was taken into custody without incident and charged with six counts Grand Theft Auto, Felony Criminal Mischief, and Burglary.

Agents are still actively seeking the other suspects responsible for this incident.

I am very proud to say through the use of social media coupled with the active involvement of our community, our agents were able to complete an investigation and arrest one with several others pending!”
