NR 15-111 Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Aggravated Battery Suspect
On December 8, 2015, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to Chandler Street, Cape Canaveral, in reference to the report of a disturbance, which resulted in one participant being shot.
The investigation determined that a verbal dispute became physical involving the suspect, identified as 36-year-old William R. Scott, of Cape Canaveral, and an unnamed adult male victim. The situation deescalated for a brief period, and then as Scott began to leave, the victim then began hitting Scott’s vehicle with his hands. While sitting inside the vehicle, Scott fired one round from his handgun, thus hitting the victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
William R. Scott was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery in reference to the shooting and was taken to the Brevard County Jail without bond.
