NR 15-86 Deputies Arrest Armed Burglary Suspect

15-86Earlier today, Deputies were dispatched to the area of 5135 US1, unincorporated Cocoa, reference the report of a man with a gun.

Upon arrival, Deputies observed an individual matching the suspect’s description. The suspect then ran, and after a short foot pursuit, Deputy Chaston Williams along with the help of several citizens, apprehended the individual who was identified as 29-year-old Justin Huggins, of Cocoa. While running, Huggins was observed as he threw a firearm, which was recovered by Deputy Williams.

Agents later determined the firearm was reported stolen on September 13, 2015, during an armed burglary in Port St. John. Huggins is a convicted felon and is identified as a “Career Offender.”

Huggins was charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Firearm by Felon, Armed Burglary, Grand Theft of a Firearm and the Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon. He was transported to the Brevard County Jail under a no bond status.
