NR 15-87 Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Suspect in Jewelry Theft

15-87On September 4, 2015, a female entered Kline’s Jewelry store located at 7015 N. U.S. 1, unincorporated Cocoa, and stole several pieces of jewelry, valued at approximately $3,970.00.

The suspect, was identified as 29-year-old Jessica E. Shorter, Rockledge, who was observed on surveillance cameras reaching and taking jewelry out of the case while the clerk was distracted. The jewelry was then discovered and recovered at a nearby pawn shop, where it was returned to the business.

Shorter was charged with Grand Theft, Dealing in Stolen Property, False Verification of Ownership, Felony Violation of Probation and is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail under a no bond status.

It should be noted that Shorter was additionally arrested on September 14, 2015, by the Indialantic Police Department regarding a similar incident that occurred at an unrelated business.

Citizens should pay close attention to the Shorter’s photograph, as she has recently conducted a large number of pawn transactions that consist of jewelry items that are not associated with these two theft incidents.
