The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 51–year-old Warren Buchanan of 1745 Bahama Street, Titusville, in connection with the death of 67-year-old German Heredia. Members of the Homicide Unit took Buchanan into custody last night after a warrant was issued for his arrest by a judge charging him with Manslaughter. He was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held on $50,000 bond.

The investigation began on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, when deputies responded to a residence in Mims in response to a 911 call reference an elderly man who was unresponsive.

The investigation has determined that the victim and his granddaughters were walking their dogs in the area of 2120 Rudge Drive in Mims when a verbal altercation started between the victim and Buchanan. The victim walked up to the fence Buchanan was standing behind and continued the argument, which was determined to be over the victim possibly touching Buchanan’s truck. During the argument, Buchanan struck the victim in the face causing him to fall and strike his head on the concrete driveway. The victim became unresponsive and law enforcement and medical personnel were summoned to the scene.

The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he subsequently died from his injuries. The victim’s body was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy was conducted by the Chief Medical Examiner of Brevard County who concluded that the victim died as a result of blunt force trauma. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.
