NR 16-12 Corrections Officer Arrested and Terminated for Sexual Misconduct
On February 9, 2016, the Brevard County Sheriff’s initiated a criminal investigation concerning a sexual misconduct allegation involving an employee. The allegation identified Corrections Deputy Barre Taylor and a female inmate. The information was provided to a Jail Complex supervisor advising that Taylor, a five year employee, and the inmate, were engaging in sexual activities while she was incarcerated in the Brevard County Jail and under the watch of Taylor. As a result of the investigation, agents corroborated the allegations and determined that Taylor had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with the inmate on two occasions over the past several weeks. Taylor was immediately relieved of his duties and placed on leave without pay on February 9, 2016.
On February 10, 2016, Taylor was arrested for Sexual Misconduct and was booked into the Brevard County Jail under a $5000.00 bond.
Taylor was terminated by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office at the time of his arrest.
