NR 16-18 Deputies Arrest Vehicle Theft Suspects
Earlier today, Sheriff’s Deputies coordinated the arrest of a driver and passenger in a stolen pickup truck. A Patrol Deputy observed a suspicious vehicle at a gas station in Cocoa. The deputy checked the tag and learned the pickup had been reported stolen to the Cocoa Police Department the previous night.
The Deputy kept the vehicle and suspects in sight as he began coordinating resources to get the truck safely stopped. These efforts included the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, K9, other patrol deputies, and both the Cocoa and Rockledge Police Departments.
As units coordinated and closed in on the suspects, the driver finally surrendered in the city of Rockledge without incident. Both the driver and passenger are juveniles.
The driver, identified as 15-year-old Trayquan Brothers of Cocoa is charged with Felony Grand Theft Auto, Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest Without Violence, and Driving Without a Driver’s License.
The passenger, identified as 15-year-old Jaquan Kimbrough of Cocoa is charged with Felony Principle to Grand Theft Auto.
Both are arrested and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Sheriff Ivey stated “I’m extremely proud of our team and thankful for the assistance of the Cocoa and Rockledge Police Departments as they all worked together seamlessly to safely apprehend these suspects.”
