NR 16-31 Deputies Arrest Carjacking Suspect
Earlier today at approximately 12:28 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Merritt Square Mall, 777 E. Merritt Island Causeway, in reference to a robbery. The victim advised she was approached by a black male subject who forcibly took her car keys and fled the area in her vehicle.
Deputies located the vehicle traveling West on S.R. 520 and initiated a traffic stop. The Suspect refused to stop and attempted to flee. After a short pursuit, the suspect crashed the vehicle in the area of West King Street and River Edge Blvd. Cocoa Village, and fled on foot. The suspect, 16 year-old Phillip Ramon Carroll Jr. of Cocoa, was arrested for Car Jacking with a firearm, aggravated fleeing and eluding with property damage, resisting with violence, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and violation of probation. Mr. Carroll was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
