NR 16-32 Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey Receives “Defender Of Freedom” Award From The National Rifle Association
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is very pleased to announce that Sheriff Wayne Ivey was recognized by the NRA in Tallahassee on Monday by receiving one of the National Rifle Association’s highest honors for his tireless efforts to defend liberty while protecting our Constitutional Rights. Sheriff Ivey was one of only three award winners throughout the United States who were presented this year’s prestigious “Defender of Freedom” Award.
The “Defender of Freedom” Award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in preserving and protecting the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and in the service of freedom for our citizens.
Marion Hammer, former NRA president stated, “There is never any question where Sheriff Ivey stands. He stands for the people. He is clearly dedicated to protecting and upholding the Constitution, the Second Amendment and the freedoms safeguarded by our Founding Fathers.”
“Sheriff Ivey is part of the fabric of freedom,” Hammer said. “Law-abiding gun owners should know that Sheriff Ivey believes in the Second Amendment and believes in them.
The NRA News Release stated, “Sheriff Ivey received his award for his service and unwavering support, protection and defense of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms. Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen’s group. More than five million members strong, the NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation’s leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.”
Sheriff Ivey stated, “I would like to personally thank the NRA for this recognition as it is truly humbling to receive this award!! As a Constitutional Sheriff, I proudly took an Oath of Office to support our Constitutional Rights and to stand as the first line of defense in the protection of our citizen’s freedoms and liberties. I am honored to receive this award and to stand as a Defender of our citizen’s right to bear arms.”
