NR 16-44 Deputies Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
The victims advised that a white male had entered KT’s Tavern displaying a firearm and demanding money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the business in a bright yellow Jeep.
Deputies responding to the area quickly located the jeep heading north on Grissom Parkway and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to comply and the deputies engaged the vehicle in a short pursuit. A deputy quickly found an opportunity to safely terminate the pursuit, which resulted in the jeep crashing into the median and the suspect was taken into custody. There were no other suspects or occupants of the vehicle.
The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Wayne Alan Massey. Massey was transported to a nearby hospital with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Massey is being charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Petit Theft, Using a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement. Upon release from the hospital, Massey will be transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without Bond.
