UPDATE – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Extending Free Sandbags

In an effort to accommodate our citizens’ overwhelming need for sandbags, the Sheriff’s Office is extending the service for providing free sandbags at the Brevard County Farm location.

Our inmate work crews and staffing are working around the clock again to fill and load the bags requested. To help keep up with the incredible demand, our Inmate work crews and crew supervisors will be working throughout the night to help pre-stage filled bags, however, there may still be delays tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s location and hours of distribution of free sandbags for Thursday, October 6, 2016, are as following:

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Farm, located at 2955 Pluckebaum Road, Cocoa, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM9

Please note the secondary distribution site for today has been changed from Kings Park to Mitchell Ellington Park, located at 575 Hall Road, Merritt Island, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The two distribution sites should be listed as follows; 

Brevard Sheriff’s Office Farm, located at 2955 Pluckebaum Road, Cocoa, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Mitchell Ellington Park, located at 575 Hall Road, Merritt Island, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

In response to the potential impact of Hurricane Matthew, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will be distributing free sandbags.

Citizens can respond to two locations, Tuesday, October 4, 2016;

Brevard Sheriff’s Office Farm, located at 2955 Pluckebaum Road, Cocoa, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Kings Park, located at 995 Chase Hammock Road, Merritt Island, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

A schedule for Wednesday will be released tomorrow pending updated weather impacts. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle. The bags will be filled and loaded into the vehicles by supervised Inmate Work Crews.
