NR 17-13 Deputy Involved Shooting
On March 19, 2017, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 211 Caroline Street, Cape Canaveral, at approximately 8:19 p.m. in reference to an attempted armed robbery. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect who had fled the attempted robbery scene. The suspect was shot during the armed confrontation and transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing as Investigators are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence at the scene.
At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the names of the deputy or suspect involved in this incident. We will provide updates and further details as they become available.
The Deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave as is customary in officer involved shootings.
