NR 17-41 SHERIFF’S OFFICE SANDBAG LOCATIONS FOR PICKUP STARTING WEDNESDAY MORNING

September 5, 2017 - 2:20 pm Author: Category:

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office along with other Public Safety partners continue to monitor the storm projections of Hurricane Irma.

As a result of the potential impact to Brevard County, the Sheriff’s Office will begin distributing sandbags (at no cost) to our citizens starting tomorrow morning at four different locations throughout Brevard County.

In an effort to expedite the process, we will be using inmate labor to fill and load the sandbags directly into our citizen’s vehicles at the four different locations. This will be conducted under the supervision and direction of Sheriff’s Office employees. Each vehicle can obtain up to 10 free sandbags so they can help prepare their homes and businesses for potential flooding.

The four locations will be open for distribution starting Wednesday morning at 8:00 A.M. and will continue distributing through 6:00 P.M. with services continuing during the same hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday or until supplies are gone.

The four locations are:

NORTH BREVARD AREA

Chain of Lakes Park 2300 Truman Scarborough Way Titusville, Fl 32796

MERRITT ISLAND AND BEACHES

Mitchell Ellington Park 575 Hall Road Merritt Island, FL 32953

CENTRAL BREVARD AREA

Calvary Chapel Church 2852 Fellowship Place Viera, FL 32940

SOUTH BREVARD AREA

Max K. Rhodes Park 3410 Flanagan Avenue West Melbourne, FL, 32904

Hopefully the utilization of inmate labor and four different distribution sites will lesson wait time so that everyone can obtain their sandbags and return home as quickly as possible to prepare their residences for potential impact from Hurricane Irma!!

Please continue to monitor the potential track of this major storm and take the necessary precautions to protect you, your family, your pets and your homes as we face another hurricane season together in Brevard County.
