NR 18-4  Mother Arrested For Manslaughter In Child’s Death

Rosa Regina FeeneyThe Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, GameOver Task Force arrested 35-year-old, Rosa Regina Feeney of Melbourne Beach, Florida, for causing the death of her 10-month-old child. Feeney was arrested on January 10, 2018, after a warrant was issued charging her with Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child and Child Neglect.

Feeney was arrested this afternoon and transported to the Brevard County Jail Complex where she is being held on a $60,000 Bond.

The investigation was initiated during the early morning hours of December 6, 2017, after deputies responded to the Deangelo’s by the Sea Hotel in Melbourne Beach in reference to an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, the deputies found Feeney performing CPR on the child. The deputies continued life saving measures, eventually transferring the child to the care of paramedics who transported the child to the hospital. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital later that morning.

Based on the investigation, agents believe that Feeney, who had been drinking the night of the incident, entered the bathtub while the child was playing on the bathroom floor. While taking a bath, Feeney undressed the child and placed him in the bathtub with her. Feeney fell asleep at which time the child slipped under the water. Upon awakening, Feeney found the child unresponsive in the tub and ran to a neighboring room to summon help. Feeney appeared to be inebriated during her contact that night with law enforcement and medical professionals. Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, it was determined that Feeney action’s that night constituted child neglect and was directly responsible for the child’s death.
