NR14-14 Sheriff’s Office Investigates Cocoa Homicide
On March 25, 2014, at approximately 1:19 a.m., Deputies responded to Lakeview Blvd, Cocoa, in reference to an emergency 911 call advising that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, Deputies found 20-year-old Lavonte Ingram of Cocoa, unresponsive with life threatening gunshot wounds. Ingram was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses stated that a large crowd had gathered in the parking area when a black male approached the group and began firing a handgun in the direction of the victim. The victim was struck and fell to the ground. The assailant was last seen fleeing on foot from the scene.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and an autopsy is currently scheduled to take place today at the Medical Examiner’s office.
