* Update* NR 16-68 Sheriff’s Deputies Attempting to Locate Endangered Adult
NR 16-70 UPDATE: Late last night, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing endangered adult, 74-year-old Kenneth Homer Gower, of Grant. Mr. Gower was last seen at his residence on Berry Road in Grant, by a neighbor at approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 27, 2016.
At approximately 9:15 this morning, the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit worked in conjunction with South Precinct Patrol Deputies, and Ag-Marine Units, where they located Mr. Gower approximately ½ mile away from his residence in a remote wooded area. Aviation Pilot Mike Ryle and Tactical Flight Operator Bernie Bernardo were scanning a densely wooded area when they located Mr. Gower and his dog Andy. Mr. Gower was exhausted, and lying in the wooded area with his body partially submerged in water. Deputies were directed to the location where they found Mr. Gower’s faithful dog Andy curled up next to his owner.
It was determined that Mr. Gower had become disoriented on a walk and was lost out in the elements for approximately 36 hours. Mr. Gower seemed to be in good spirits, and is being medically cleared due to mild hypothermia symptoms prior to returning home.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey stated, “I am extremely grateful for the efforts of our team and the citizens that helped bring Mr. Gower and his dog Andy home safely. I couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved who worked throughout the night to locate Mr. Gower, and for everything they do each and every day to protect our citizens, even the little furry ones.”
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the community’s help in locating a missing adult, 74-year-old Kenneth Homer Gower, of Grant.
Mr. Gower was last seen at his residence on Berry Road, Grant, by a neighbor at approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 27, 2016.
Mr. Gower is also believed to be on foot, with a small white terrier dog named “andy”.
Mr. Gower is approzimately 5 foot 8 inches tall and between 120-140 pounds. It is unknown what he was last wearing.
