NR 19-07 Death Investigation

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently working a death investigation in the area of U.S. 1 and Brockett Road in Mims.

The investigation began shortly before 8:30 a.m. this morning after the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body near the roadway that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene and determined that the 39-year-old, male victim did not have any injuries consistent with having been involved in a vehicle mishap. Prelimary investigation has determined that the male suffered an apparent drug overdose.

The victim will be taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be conducted. Updates will be provided as they become available.
