NR 21-32 Sheriff’s Office Investigating Infant Death

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a two-month old infant that was found unresponsive at a residence located in the 100 block of Palmetto Avenue in Merritt Island. 

The investigation began after deputies responded to the residence after the mother called the Communications Center advising that her baby was not breathing.  Upon arrival at the residence, the infant was pronounced deceased.

The infant was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy was conducted.  The investigation is ongoing as agents are awaiting the final medical results and examining evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the death.
