Chief Pilot John Coppola

Chief Pilot John Coppola is a forty-five-year law enforcement veteran of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the Aviation Unit. Following high school, he attended the Brevard County Law Enforcement Academy. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in April 1979 as a Patrol Deputy and worked his way to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant assigned to the Special Operations Division, he learned to fly helicopters and is currently rated as a Commercial Helicopter Pilot. Chief Pilot Coppola has additional certifications in Bambi Bucket and rescue hoist operations in the UH1H helicopter as well as Float Helicopter operations in the OH 58 helicopter. His career includes a 30 year assignment in the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit.
