Director J. Martinez has been a dedicated member of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office since 2002. Throughout his career, he has held key positions including Patrol, Field Training Officer, Patrol Corporal, Recruiter, Background Investigator, and High Liability Instructor.  In these roles, he has delivered comprehensive agency training in critical areas such as firearms, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, first aid, wellness, and taser.  In 2014, he joined the Community Services Unit where he applied proven crime prevention methodologies to help reduce crime rates across Brevard County.  He now serves as Director of Community Services leading initiatives that empower and educate county residents on topics such as active shooter response, self-defense, fraud prevention, home security, and human trafficking.  Educational programs tailored for youth focus on critical topics including anti-bullying, drug awareness, internet safety, and safe driving practices.  The unit also provides targeted support for individuals with special needs and vulnerable adults.  Director Martinez also oversees the Media Services Unit, which develops and distributes digital content focused on crime prevention and public safety through social media platforms.
