Director Ray Short

Director Ray Short has been a member of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. He began his career as a Maritime Security Officer before transitioning to a Corrections Deputy position in April 2018. Director Short brings many years of construction experience from owning his own business and serves as the OSHA Trainer for the Sheriff’s Office. Director Short provides training on safety standards to both Sheriff’s Office employees and inmates. Director Short currently oversees and manages off-site inmate work details for maintenance and custodial activities. Director Short manages multiple programs that help save taxpayer dollars by using inmate labor, while at the same time teaching inmates valued skills in construction, landscaping, pest control, and maintenance which are very helpful in their future endeavors.
