Director Ray Short

Director Ray Short has been an employee of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office since 2015, starting as a Maritime Security Officer until transitioning to a Corrections Deputy in April 2018. Director Short has many years of experience in construction from owning his personal business and is the OSHA Trainer for the Sheriff’s Office. Director Short trains both Sheriff’s Office employees and inmates in standards. Director Short was promoted and assigned the responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Farm, special projects, and events in 2023.  Director Short currently oversees the Sheriff’s Farm Operations where he manages the maintenance and custodial activities for the County Jail Complex. Director Short manages multiple programs that help save taxpayer dollars by using inmate labor while at the same time teaches the inmates valued skills in construction, landscaping, pest control, and maintenance which are very helpful in their future endeavors.
