Director Thomas Branam has proudly served the citizens of Brevard County for over 24 years, beginning his career in 2002 in Fleet Maintenance as a Mechanic 1, followed by a steady progression of promotions and additional responsibilities. In 2015, he was promoted to Chief Lead Mechanic and served in this capacity for 10 years. As Chief Lead Mechanic he was responsible for overseeing multiple technicians and ensuring all agency vehicles were repaired and maintained correctly and safely.
Director Branam is a graduate of the Automotive Service Excellence program from Brevard Community College. He has been ASE certified in Automotive repair for 27 years and has been Master ASE certified for 21 of those years. He is also Emergency Vehicle Technician certified and has held an Emergency Vehicle Technician certification for over 7 years. Throughout his career at BCSO, he has received multiple appreciation awards, including one from the U.S. Secret Service in 2020 for facilitating the build of a specialty vehicle to aide in the investigation of stolen diesel fuel sales.
Because of his background, extensive knowledge of automotive systems, and his ability to lead a team, Thomas was promoted to Fleet Maintenance Director in May 2025, where he oversees the acquisition, outfitting, and maintenance of over 1,000 patrol cars, unmarked units and special unit vehicles, vessels and mobile response equipment. He supervises a staff of ASE trained/certified mechanics who provide routine maintenance on all Sheriff’s Office vehicles. Similarly, he is responsible for supervising the vehicle outfitting team who prepare and equip all vehicles for patrol and investigative operations.
