Jennifer joined the BCSO in June 2026 as the Chief Legal Officer after serving at the Office of the State Attorney, 18th Judicial Circuit from 1996 through 2008, beginning her career as a Trial Attorney, and working her way up to the position of Felony Division Chief. In 2008, she opened her own law firm where she represented clients as they navigated through the Family, Dependency, Criminal, and Federal court systems. After several successful years in private practice, Chief Mostert returned to the State Attorney’s Office in 2024, where she led the Misdemeanor Division.
As Chief Legal Officer for the Sheriff’s Office, Chief Mostert oversees the Legal Services Unit which is responsible for litigating asset forfeitures, risk protections orders, public records, and other matters on behalf of Sheriff Wayne Ivey and his staff. Chief Mostert prepares policy, procedure, legislative and caselaw updates; legislative proposals; contracts; and conducts trainings for law enforcement and the community regarding criminal justice matters. Chief Mostert coordinates with outside counsel, as needed, on specialized assignments and cases and interfaces with the State Attorney’s Office, Judiciary, and other components of the local criminal justice system on behalf of BCSO.
Chief Mostert earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and her Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law.
