Director Ron Spangler, a Brevard County native, began his association with law enforcement at the age of 15 when he joined the Brevard County Sheriff’s Explorer’s program, rising to the position of post Chief Deputy. As a contract process server for Brevard County in the 1990s, he continued his connection with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office until becoming employed in 1997 as a Senior Office Assistant in the Civil Process Unit. After transferring to the Fleet Unit, he served as Fleet Assistant overseeing parts, outfitting, and administrative duties. With a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies, Computer Information Technology from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and a Master of Arts in Corporate Communications and Technology degree from Rollins College, Director Spangler was promoted in 2005 to Manager of the BCSO Central Logistics Unit covering purchasing and property management for the agency.
Director Spangler is a graduate of the Brevard County Executive Leadership Institute and serves as a Chair on the Florida Sheriff’s Association, Fleet Advisory Board specializing in Light and Pursuit Vehicles and Electrical Vehicle Charging. He has been very active with the UCF Alumni Association serving in various positions including chair of the Space Coast UCF alumni chapter for ten years and on the national UCF Alumni Board for nine years. He is a recipient of UCF’s Jefferson Award, which is a national program of the highest and most prestigious honor recognizing public service in the United States.
