NR 25-07 Workers Killed in Crane Collapse Identified

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identities of the two workers who were killed in the industrial accident yesterday afternoon on Merritt Island.  The two males are identified as 34-year-old, Isael Martinez of Haines City and 57-year-old, Hector Pozos of Kissimmee.  The two workers were pouring a concrete column when the crane collapsed on top of them.  Martinez was an employee of Baker Concrete and Pozos was a day laborer who was also working for Baker Concrete.

The investigation began at approximately 2:00 p.m., on June 5, 2025, when the Sheriff’s Office received information that a crane had collapsed on the construction site.  Deputies responded to the scene, finding the two workers deceased.   Both deceased males were transported to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be conducted.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is conducting the death investigation and OHSA is conducting the accident investigation.
