NR 25-08 Volusia Man Charged with Felony Murder

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 27-year-old Donovan Winter of Volusia, County.  Winter was arrested on June 17, 2025, by members of the United States Marshals Service with assistance of the GAMEOVER Task Force, after an arrest warrant was issued by the Honorable Judge Steve Henderson for the charges of Felony Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.   He is currently being held in the Brevard County Jail on a No Bond status.

The investigation began on June 1, 2021, when deputies responded to a residence in Merritt Island where a two-month-old male victim was discovered deceased.  The decedent was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy determined that the male victim had died from multiple blunt-impact head injuries.  Investigation revealed that Winter, who is the father of the decedent, was responsible for causing the injuries that led to the child’s death.
