The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update on the investigation into a shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of Aurantia Road in Mims on July 7, 2025.
The investigation began when deputies responded to a residence at approximately 12:20 p.m. after a 911 call was received advising that a three-year-old boy had been accidentally shot.
Preliminary interviews indicate that the child was being cared for at a relative’s residence. Thus far, the investigation has revealed that a teenager, who was also at the home, was attempting to move a firearm to a secure location when it discharged, striking the child. The child was transported from the scene to an area hospital where he was life flighted to Orlando for further treatment. At this time, he is listed in stable condition and expected to recover.
The investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made at this time.
