A teenage girl has died from injuries received in yesterday’s shooting incident in unincorporated Cocoa. 15-year-old, Karyah Duncan of Cocoa, was shot during the incident and later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
The incident began yesterday at approximately 4:30 p.m. when deputies responded to the Anchors Seafood and Chicken restaurant on Clearlake Road after it was reported that multiple people had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located two male victims and one female victim with gunshot wounds. All three were transported to local hospitals. The two male victims are expected to survive and their names are not being released at this time.
Preliminary investigation has determined that the three victims were in a vehicle in the parking lot of the restaurant when a dark colored Sport Utility Vehicle pulled behind them, blocking their exit. Multiple assailants exited the SUV and began shooting toward the vehicle and the occupants who were attempting to exit the vehicle. The assailants then re-entered the SUV, leaving the area prior to the arrival of deputies. Agents are still attempting to determine the motive for the attack; however, all indications are that the victims were targeted in this incident.
The investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made at this time.
